Michael M. McGaugh, PE, Managing Principal
The thing that Mike McGaugh really likes about his job is
the variety. One of the firm’s founding principals,
Mike is responsible for our surveying and civil works divisions
while serving as our administrative principal.
From an engineering perspective, there’s more than
enough for him to do. He’s been the principal-in-charge
on several large projects for the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers
and the Louisiana Department of Natural
Resources, including
the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway
Visitor Center at Grand
Ecore for the Corps and the
Barataria Basin Freshwater Diversion
for the DNR.
Mike also likes being an administrator and manager—and
he’s got the background for it. In addition to
being licensed as an engineer in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi,
and Maryland, Mike earned an M.B.A. from Louisiana State
University.
Even this dual role isn’t enough. Mike finds
the time to be active in professional and civic organizations. He
is currently an at-large representative to Consulting Engineers
Council of Louisiana’s Board of Governors and a trustee
for the American Council of Engineering Companies Retirement
Trust. He has been a member of the Society of American
Military Engineers’ Vicksburg and Louisiana posts for
many years.
A few years ago, he set up a program that brought working
engineers to more than 300 fifth grade classrooms. The
goal: to show students that math could be fun and interesting. For
his contributions to education, Mike received the Charles
M. Kerr Public Relations Award from the Louisiana Engineering
Society.
