The firm has had the privilege of studying and designing some of the marquis infrastructure endeavors in the Gulf South - including two of the first LADOTD Design-Build projects (one along US 90 at LA 85, and a second on I-12), a unique $48 million-dollar interchange and frontage road system at I-10 and Picardy Avenue in Baton Rouge, and a multi-level, multi-directional interchange including 20 different bridge structures at the interchange of I-10 and Canal Road near the Port of Gulfport in Mississippi.

In addition, ABMB has developed a reputation for having one of the most experienced and innovative traffic analysis and design teams in the Gulf South, responsible for designing and implementing one of the first Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) in the country. That same team also designed and installed Louisiana’s first Ramp Metering system, now active along the I-12 Corridor.

The firm’s master-degreed structural engineers have designed bridges with concrete slab spans, prestressed concrete girders, curved steel plate girders, steel box girders and more.  Materials have ranged from steel and wood, to reinforced and post-tension concrete.

The firm was also the first to utilize Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls of over 25 feet along a roadway―meeting repeatedly with the manufacturer to have complete assurance in its safety and security all the while continuously refining its design and technical expertise in challenging engineering projects. The MSE walls were implemented at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.
